Welcome to The Charming Modernist, a lifestyle blog for curious minds. My name is Alison and I enjoy sharing my love for travel, food and arts and culture with family, friends and the online community.

I have been an avid traveller since the tender age of one. My father worked as a marine engineer and travelled the world on large cargo ships. He would be away from home for six months out of the year and wanted to see his family more often. So, my mother, brother and I sailed the world with my father and we have had the unique opportunity of visiting six continents. Antarctica is definitely on my bucket list! I look forward to sharing my travel adventures with you.

Living in Toronto affords us the chance to enjoy an endless variety of tasty cuisine. Be it French, Malaysian or Peruvian, our cosmopolitan city serves dishes galore to satisfy any palate. Join me on my culinary journey in Toronto and beyond!

I also have a great appreciation for the arts and during my university career, I graced the stage of Hart House Theatre in musical productions. I obtained an honours bachelor of arts degree from the University of Toronto, and most recently attained a postgraduate certificate in public relations from Ryerson University. I enjoy working as a senior writer for the provincial government.

I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog. If you would like to connect, feel free to get in touch with me via email at thecharmingmodernist@gmail.com
