Meetings by McEwan

I welcomed the opportunity to have an early morning breakfast with one of Canada's most dynamic and celebrated chefs, Mark McEwan. The exclusive invitation was held at the luxurious Hazelton Hotel to celebrate the launch of Chef McEwan's latest endeavour, Meetings by McEwan. The novel program aims to create memorable corporate meetings and events by Chef McEwan which are catered by his restaurant, One, in spaces that are both elegant and sophisticated.

I was given a warm welcome by the Hazelton Hotel's general manager, Nancy Munzar Kelly and introduced to Chef McEwan. We sat down to a hot buffet breakfast with delicious items including, smoked salmon rosti with poached egg and hollandaise saucesliced aged Quebec cheddar with heirloom tomatoes, and my personal favourites, vegetarian breakfast tortillas, and house-made granola bars. Chef McEwan proudly says that all items are freshly prepared from scratch with great care and a focus on healthy options. “Meetings by McEwan is designed to fuel inspiring and innovative ideas in an award-winning backdrop, while catering to the culinary savvy and expectations of today’s corporate meeting guest,” says Chef Mark McEwan.

The Hazelton Hotel offers intimate meeting rooms, such as the Yorkville and Neil Young rooms, as well as impressive event spaces designed by the preeminent Yabu Pushelberg firm. In addition to power breakfasts, Chef McEwan's menu offerings feature working lunches and bespoke dinners accompanied by wine pairings that feature the best of his culinary creations. The program also promises the most professional, attentive, and efficient service.

When I ask Chef McEwan what his favourite dish to prepare for breakfast is, he tells me it is eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce. Gregarious and charming, Chef McEwan and his delectable gourmet culinary creations certainly made a lasting impression on me.
